This was trippy and interesting and I might need to re-read it to fully understand it😂

Haha, was hoping for that trippy shift to happen....

Good to see you here Tara, loved your post on Eros the other day. Just starting a project on archetypes too.

Very interesting Bertus.

I would add that the permanence we crave doesn't even exist. It's an illusion. What we humans call "permanent" is even narrower on the time scale than the visual light range on the EM spectrum. Our so-called permanence is puny and I find that quite liberating - the flower smells all the sweeter for it.

What an ecstatic exploration! I felt almost breathless reading—photon angels! light emitting wood! matter and light in constant engagement! I imagined a world that was only black and white, that color was invented, and wondered about the first eyes to see the first blade of green.🌱

Did not know that the photons reflected off a surface are in fact new photons emitted by the object, very interesting. Did know that blue fabric (generally) fades more quickly than other colors - I'm sure there's an explanation somewhere in the formulation of the blue dye... :)

You gave the answer partly yourself about the blue dye. One cannot use a pigment to 'paint' fabric. It will add a layer on top and completely change the material's character. To colour the fibers we use dyes, and they dissolve in water, and are able to stain through and through. Nature provides lots of dyes, and we have found ways to fixate them, putting them on hold for a while longer before they break down in sunlight.

One amazingly smart idea with dyes was to use them to stain neutrally coloured particles. And use fixation techniques from the dyeing trade. It gives a sort of pigment powder.

Colour is crazy complex because it deals with light interacting with matter. Was a real struggle to try and boil this essay down to something readable....
